Why Writing Is So Darn Hard

My biggest problem isn't writer's block or procrastination.
No, it's a two-kilo feline named Possum. Here she is, asleep at the wheel again.

What are your obstacles to writing? Are they animal, mineral, physical or spiritual barriers? (Apologies to Joan Armatrading)

The internet.... I surf and surf and surf.... until finally forcing myself to write. Which is so weird, seeing as I love writing....

Hi, Sara! I have that problem too, but I ease my guilt by pretending it's research, research, research.

I don't remember how I found you, but I wanted to know I added you to my blogroll---one writer to another. I'm always curious about fellow writers.

The majority of the time it's personal barriers. Like when something happens in my personal life and totally shuts off my creative flow. Gah! I hate when that happens. But I'm learning to push thru it. I'm in the middle of an agent search right now and I have a self-imposed deadline that I'm trying to reach by Nov 1st. (1st draft of Book Two in my YA series). I figure I'm going to have to do it when I get that book deal, so why not practice now. LOL.

Thanks for stopping by and for adding me to your blog roll, Celise! And keep up the big push - it's worth all the pain. :)
